Yes. You can add any type of attachment to the knowledge base articles, there is no restriction on file type. There are no limits on attachment size, however hosting generally has a limit of 8MB (this can be changed by your hosting provider if necessary).
This can be used to provide your users with images, spreadsheets, word documents or pdf's for example.
